Ragi milkshake recipe




Ingredients:


Ragi flour                - 3 teaspoons

Milk                        - 1 cup

Banana                    - 1 number

Cashew nuts           -3 -4

Almonds                - 3-4 

Sugar to taste



Preparation:


> Roast ragi flour in a  medium to low flame for 5 minutes

> Add water to it and allow it to boil and make a thick paste, while boiling add sugar, cashew nuts (sliced) and almonds (sliced)

> Allow the mix to cool and then add cool or luke warm milk into the mixture and stir well; make sure there are no lumps.  

> Refrigerate it and before serving add sliced bananas into it

> Ragi milkshake is ready to serve.

Badam milk recipe




Ingredients:


Almonds / badam   -1/4 cup

Warm water for soaking badam or almond

Milk                        - 2 1/4 cups

Sugar                      - 4 tablespoon (or as required)

Cardamom /elakka - 4

Saffron                   - one light pinch (optional)




Preparation:


> Rinse and soak almonds in warm water for 30 to 40 minutes

> Later, peel each almond and put into a blender

> Take out the seeds of cardamom and put it along with peeled almond 

> Add sugar,  and 1/4 cup milk and make a smooth paste by blending

> Then add more milk and blend

> Pour in a glass and garnish it with saffron (optional)

> Badam milk is ready to serve

Mint leaves                     - 15 to 25 leaves, (without stem)

Lime juice                      - 2 and a half tablespoon

Water                              - 2 cups

Sugar                               - 2 to 4 tablespoon (according to the requirement)

Vanilla ice cream      - 1 scoop

Jackfruit Milkshake Recipe


Ingredients:


Milk               - 2 cups

Jack Fruit       - 1.5 cups (chopped)

Sugar to taste

Cardamom powder - a big pinch (optional)

Preparation:


> In a blender, add the chopped jack fruit, sugar, cardamom powder (optional) and milk and blend it until very smooth.  Then add the ice cubes and blend for some more seconds. Pour the milk shake into a glass and garnish with finely chopped jack fruit and serve immediately.


This milkshake is a seasonal one, to cool down during summer hot.  My kids won't love, if i add cardamom powder.  So suggest to add cardamom powder only if you love the taste. Otherwise don't add it.

Green peas masala gravy recipe


Green peas masala gravy is a tasty side dish for chappathi or appam or idiyappam.  This recipe is very easy to prepare.  Here is the recipe:


Ingredients:


Dried Green peas                           - 1 cup

Big onion                                       - 1 (finely chopped)

Potato                                             - 1 small (diced)

Tomato                                           -  1 (finely chopped)

Curry leaves                                   - 1 sprig

Ginger garlic paste                        - 2 teaspoon

Green chilly                                   - 1 -2 numbers

Chilly powder                                - 1 teaspoon

Coriander powder                          - 2 teaspoon

Turmeric powder                           - 1/4 teaspoon

Garam masala powder                   - 3/4 teaspoon

Salt to taste

water for cooking and soaking


For seasoning:

Oil                   - 2 tablespoon

Mustard          - 1 teaspoon

Curry leaves   - 1 sprig

Dried red chilly - 1 to 2 numbers



Preparation:


> Wash and soak dried green peas for 4- 5 hours or overnight. 

> In a pressure cooker, take the soaked green peas after washing, then add chopped onion, tomato, one sprig curry leaves, potato, ginger garlic paste, splitted green chilly, red chilly powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, salt to taste and water to cover and mix well and cook for one whistle in high flame and 3- 4 whistles in medium flame or till the peas cooked.

> After the pressure released well, open the cooker lid and see whether the peas mixture is cooked well, if yes, our gravy is almost done. Adjust salt and consistency. Thick consistency is better for this peas masala gravy.

> In a pan, pour oil and splutter mustard, add curry leaves and dried red chilly and stir well and switch off the flame and add this to the cooked gravy mixture.

> Green peas masala gravy is ready to serve.

Idiyappam recipe / nool puttu recipe / kerala style idiyappam recipe


Idiyappam is one of the most popular breakfast item in Kerala.  This is noodles appam in my kids language.  My son is five year old, but good in giving names for each and everything.  Idiyappam or nool puttu is very easy to prepare and tasty to have along with vegetable curry or egg curry. Here is the recipe:


Ingredients:


Rice flour               - 1 cup

Salt                         - to taste

Boiling water         - 1 to 11/2 cups



Preparation:


> Boil water in a pan

> Take rice flour in a mixing bowl and add salt to taste and pour boiling water into it and knead the flour to make a sticky but firm dough

> Then knead the dough well and put the dough into an idiyappam presser and press the dough to make strings out of it.

> You can use idli maker to make small idiyappams

> Then cook in a steamer for 5 -10 minutes. Idiyappam is ready to serve.

Ethakka appam or pazham pori is a most popular evening snack in all over Kerala.  For each and every get together, pazham pori plays a major role in snack items.  So ethakka appam or pazham pori is such an important snack in our kitchen.  But here i am introducing a different pazham pori with healthy batter. Here is the recipe:


Ingredients:


Ethakka / Nenthrapazham/
Ripened banana                            - 2 numbers

Wheat flour                                  - 1/2 cup

Rice flour                                     - 1 tablespoon

Turmeric powder                         - 1/4 teaspoon

Cumin seeds                                - one pinch

Salt                                              - one pinch

Sugar                                           - 1 tablespoon

Baking powder                            - 1/2 teaspoon (optional)

Water as required

Coconut oil for deep frying




Preparation:


> Peel banana and cut into two portion and cut the half portion again into two halves

> In a bowl, take wheat flour, rice flour, turmeric powder, cumin seeds, sugar, salt, baking powder and prepare a thick batter using required amount of water.

> Heat oil in a pan and dip each banana pieces in the batter and put in the hot oil and fry until it become golden brown. Drain onto a kitchen towel or tissue paper to remove excess oil.

> Serve hot with tea or coffee

One of the most easiest to prepare evening snack is baji with chilly / banana pepper.  Tea and mulaku baji is such a mouthwatering snack.  It is very easy to prepare and tasty also. Here is the easiest recipe to prepare mulaku baji at your own kitchen:


Ingredients:


Banana pepper / 
Baji chilly                                  -  5 to 6 numbers

Gram flour / Besan flour/
Kadalamavu                             - 1 cup

Rice flour                                 - 2 tablespoon

Chilly powder                          - 1 teaspoon

Turmeric powder                     - 1/4 teaspoon

Asafoetida / Kayam                - 2 pinch

Cumin seeds / Jeerakam         - 1/2 teaspoon

Salt to taste

Water

Oil for frying



Preparation:


> In a large bowl, take gram flour, rice flour, chilly powder, turmeric powder, asafoetida, cumin seeds, salt and water as required to form a thick batter

> Make a slit lengthwise on each chilly and take the seeds out carefully (if required)

> Dip each banana pepper in the batter and deep fry in hot oil over medium heat until it is crispy

> Serve hot with tomato sauce

Paneer Tikka recipe on pan / on tawa


As we know, paneer is a good source of protein especially for children as it helps in many stages in their development.  This paneer tikka recipe is very easy to prepare at your own kitchen.  This recipe is very simple and healthy recipe, so prepare the recipe today itself and serve to your loved ones :-)


Ingredients:


Paneer / cottage cheese - 250gm to 300 gm (diced)

Capsicum /bell pepper  - 1 diced

Tomato                         - 1 diced (without seed)

Onion                           - 1 diced


For marination: 

Curd                             - 1 cup

Besan flour                  - 2 tablespoon

Carrom seeds/ajwain/
ayamodhakam            - 1/2 teaspoon

Kasuri methi              - 1/2 teaspoon (crushed) dry fenugreek leaves

Ginger garlic paste      - 1 tablespoon

Kashmiri chilly powder - 1 teaspoon

Coriander powder          - 1 teaspoon

Cumin/jeerakam powder - 1 teaspoon

Chaat masala                   - 1 teaspoon

Amchur /dried mango powder - 1 teaspoon

Garam masala powder             - 1/2 teaspoon

Salt to taste

Oil                                   - 1 tablespoon


Oil for frying



Preparation:


Paneer tikka marination: 
> In a large bowl, take all the ingredients except oil for frying (under the heading for marination) and mix well.

> Then add diced paneer, capsicum, tomato and onion and mix well with your hand

> Cover the bowl and keep in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to one hour.


Making paneer tikka:
> Heat one tablespoon oil in a pan / in a tawa.  Coat the paneer and veggies with the marinade and place them on the tawa / pan and cook in a medium or low flame. (or place the veggies in a tikka stick / toothpick like one capsicum dice, one paneer, one onion, one tomato, one paneer etc and keep that on tawa or pan and cook them in a medium or low flame)

> When one side gets browned, gently lift and turn over, the paneer cubes will get cooked faster than other veggies.

> Paneer tikka is ready to serve with pickled vinegar onions or with mint yogurt chutney

Crispy onion rings


One of the tastiest evening snack is onion rings. It is very easy to prepare and everyone loves the taste. Even kids love to eat this crispy rings. Here is the recipe to prepare crispy onion rings at your kitchen..



Ingredients:


Onion                           - 1 number

Maida/ all
purpose flour                - 1/2 cup

Baking powder             - 1 tablespoon

Kashmiri chilly powder - 1/2 teaspoon

Egg                              - 1

Milk                              - 3/4 cup Or as needed

Salt to taste

Bread crumbs to coat

Oil for frying



Preparation:


> Clean and rinse the onion and cut into approximately 1/4 inch rings

> Separate the rings carefully from each other

> Combine the flour, baking powder, kashmiri chilly powder and salt in a medium bowl

> Coat each onion ring in the flour mixture and set aside

> Combine the remaining flour mixture that you coated the onions with, with the milk, egg and salt and beat well till no lumps remain

> Coat each onion ring in the mixture and shake away the excess

> Coat the rings in breadcrumbs

> Heat oil in a pan, and fry the rings till it become golden brown

> Serve hot with tomato sauce
