Ethakka appam / Pazham pori / Banana fritters recipe


Ethakka appam or pazham pori is a most popular evening snack in all over Kerala.  For each and every get together, pazham pori plays a major role in snack items.  So ethakka appam or pazham pori is such an important snack in our kitchen.  But here i am introducing a different pazham pori with healthy batter. Here is the recipe:


Ingredients:


Ethakka / Nenthrapazham/
Ripened banana                            - 2 numbers

Wheat flour                                  - 1/2 cup

Rice flour                                     - 1 tablespoon

Turmeric powder                         - 1/4 teaspoon

Cumin seeds                                - one pinch

Salt                                              - one pinch

Sugar                                           - 1 tablespoon

Baking powder                            - 1/2 teaspoon (optional)

Water as required

Coconut oil for deep frying




Preparation:


> Peel banana and cut into two portion and cut the half portion again into two halves

> In a bowl, take wheat flour, rice flour, turmeric powder, cumin seeds, sugar, salt, baking powder and prepare a thick batter using required amount of water.

> Heat oil in a pan and dip each banana pieces in the batter and put in the hot oil and fry until it become golden brown. Drain onto a kitchen towel or tissue paper to remove excess oil.

> Serve hot with tea or coffee
