Green peas masala gravy is a tasty side dish for chappathi or appam or idiyappam. This recipe is very easy to prepare. Here is the recipe:
Ingredients:
Dried Green peas - 1 cup
Big onion - 1 (finely chopped)
Potato - 1 small (diced)
Tomato - 1 (finely chopped)
Curry leaves - 1 sprig
Ginger garlic paste - 2 teaspoon
Green chilly - 1 -2 numbers
Chilly powder - 1 teaspoon
Coriander powder - 2 teaspoon
Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon
Garam masala powder - 3/4 teaspoon
Salt to taste
water for cooking and soaking
For seasoning:
Oil - 2 tablespoon
Mustard - 1 teaspoon
Curry leaves - 1 sprig
Dried red chilly - 1 to 2 numbers
Preparation:
> Wash and soak dried green peas for 4- 5 hours or overnight.
> In a pressure cooker, take the soaked green peas after washing, then add chopped onion, tomato, one sprig curry leaves, potato, ginger garlic paste, splitted green chilly, red chilly powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, salt to taste and water to cover and mix well and cook for one whistle in high flame and 3- 4 whistles in medium flame or till the peas cooked.
> After the pressure released well, open the cooker lid and see whether the peas mixture is cooked well, if yes, our gravy is almost done. Adjust salt and consistency. Thick consistency is better for this peas masala gravy.
> In a pan, pour oil and splutter mustard, add curry leaves and dried red chilly and stir well and switch off the flame and add this to the cooked gravy mixture.
> Green peas masala gravy is ready to serve.
