As we are living in ‘instant’ era, I am introducing an
instant and easy recipe for making vermicelli or semiya payasam (kheer). It’s very easy and simple recipe.
Ingredients:
Vermicelli / Semiya ------------------ 1 cup
Milkmaid ------------------------------ ¾ cup to 1 cup (as
per sweet requirement)
Cashew nuts ---------------------------10-15 numbers (split
into two halves)
Raisins ----------------------------------- 10-15 numbers
Cardamom ------------------------------ 8 numbers
Ghee ------------------------------------- 1 ½ tablespoon
Water ------------------------------------ 4 ½ cups
Method of preparation:
1.
Dissolve the milkmaid in water and
keep it aside
2.
Take cardamom seeds and powder it and
keep it aside
3.
Heat the pan and pour ghee into the
pan
4.
Add cashew nut and fry it and keep it
aside
5.
Add raisins and fry it and keep it
aside
6.
In the remaining ghee add vermicelli
and fry it till it become almost brown in colour (don’t over fry it)
7.
Add the dissolved milkmaid to the
fried vermicelli and stir well
8.
Close the lid of the pan and allow it
to cook in medium flame
9.
Stir occasionally and when you feel
it almost done, add cardamom powder and stir well
10.Once it’s cooked, add fried cashew nuts and raisins and close the lid and keep it for 5 minutes
11.Now instant vermicelli /
semiya payasam is ready to serve
Note:
Ø I didn't use any sugar
in this recipe, as I used sweetened condensed milk instead
Ø In this recipe, I used
raw vermicelli. You can use fried
vermicelli too. If you are using fried
vermicelli, don’t fry it again
Ø Here, I used Nestle
milkmaid, you can use any of the skimmed sweetened condensed milk (as per the
availability)
Ø If you use ¾ cup
milkmaid, it will not be that much sweet. So adjust the sweet till one cup as
per your taste
The main benefit of use of condensed milk in this recipe is,
it won’t curdled like normal milk….So if we prepare for our guest in this way,
tension of preparation will be less and everyone will love the taste of the
payasam too….. J My neighbours love to
eat my payasam…. So I am sure that you will also love the recipe… I will introduce the normal vermicelli/ semiya payasam recipe in another couple of days...
Feel free to give criticisms, comments and suggestions….. If
you have more doubt, don’t forget to write to me….. J
